RECRUITMENT & NETWORKING
Recruitment for SWE vs PM
Nikita Takru Instructor
Developer | Spring'18

As Computer Science students, we often hear about two popular career paths: software engineering and product management.

Most of us find ourselves asking the questions:

- What does it mean to be a software engineer (SWE) versus a product manager (PM)?

- Which role is the best fit for me?How does SWE recruiting differ from PM recruiting? What should I do to land an interview?

- How can I ace the interview?

I asked myself those questions not too long ago and had the opportunity to explore both career paths through internships. Today, I will be talking about my experiences in both software engineering and product management, as well as talking about how you can determine which career path is the best fit for you and tips for the recruiting process.
